Their vision and loyalty have directly contributed to our company’s success during the 20 years we have been operating. Their insight and decision-making have produced a culture of excellence in all aspects, which filters down through the ranks to influence every member of our team.
He then went on to take on increased leadership roles as Area Manager of the Alexandria operations leading the operations in completing several high-profile projects such as the I-495 and I-95 Express Lanes projects. In 2014, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Pennsylvania State University. In 2016, he took on his current leadership role as Division Manager of Virginia Paving’s Northern Virginia Operations. Under his leadership Virginia Paving Company has cemented their position as an industry leader. In recent years Virginia Paving Company has been recognized by many stakeholders for their outstanding performance in Quality (Virginia Department of Transportation Statewide Maintenance project of the year 2016 and 2017), Environment Stewardship (Virginia DEQ VEEP E3 Member, and Safety (VTCA and HCCA safest construction operations awards).
He is certified as an Asphalt Technician in the compaction and placement of HMA for VDOT, MDOT, and DDOT, as well as being certified by ATSSA as a Traffic Control Supervisor and Licensed Flagger Instructor. He also has certification in Construction Safety & Health for OSHA. His vast experience in the construction and management fields makes him a strong asset for any project that requires attention to details and procedures. Mr. Alderman has worked on numerous projects with 8A, DBE and other Minority companies and individuals working through the governmental process on at least six different military bases, the Pentagon, US Capitol and projects at the White House. He has strong knowledge and experience performing milling and paving work on VDOT and municipality contracts and always emphasizes quality and safety.
From there he went on to acquire his degree in Building Construction from Virginia Tech and continued to work as a laborer and a project engineer, during the summer months, for multiple commercial general contractors. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2006, he went on to manage building, roadway, and bridge work for a commercial GC in Virginia, Maryland, and Kansas, until turning his focus to the heavy and civil construction industry when he joined Virginia Paving Company in 2009 as an estimator. During the years that followed, he took on greater responsibility within the company, taking on the role of a traveling superintendent for a year, managing paving projects on National Park Service contracts for work on Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park, as well as Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, and eventually transitioned into a Lead Estimating role for the Northern Virginia operations with Virginia Paving, a position which he maintained until he joined Senate Asphalt in a combined role as Project Manager and Estimator for their DC-Metro paving operations. Today, Mike plays an integral role in every project that Senate Asphalt takes on, from municipal resurfacing contracts to highly sensitive US governmental contracts.
Throughout the 39 years since, he has held positions related to nearly every aspect of construction operations, with a focus on business and construction management. Prior to joining Virginia Paving Company as a District Manager in 2009, he helped to improve the performance and profitability of several other construction companies through his work in varying management positions. He is experienced in managing both public and private projects, with a resume that includes work in numerous states along the East Coast and throughout the southern US. Under Mike’s leadership, Virginia Paving Company has positioned itself as a recognized industry leader in Safety, Quality, Production and Performance. He has also deepened the company’s public reputation through Environmental Stewardship, and ongoing Community Service programs developed by the company. Following the 2018 merger with Eurovia USA, Mike now oversees plant and paving operations as Vice President of Virginia, South Carolina, and Texas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology.
Rod started out working summers as a laborer on a utility line crew, as a crew leader at a ladder factory, as a wheelman on a paving crew, and as a laborer on a vertical construction site. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Survey Engineering from the University of Maine in 1991, he was hired as an instrument man and crew chief on the Pennsylvania Southern Expressway Project in Pittsburgh. Rod relocated to Maine, where he became involved in the asphalt plant and quarry operations throughout the state. Rod was responsible for all survey layout, permitting, cost control, and estimating. Rod then served as a Superintendent on numerous Maine DOT projects across several locations, primarily Belfast, Washington, Calais, and Bangor ME. Additionally, Rod led IRAP projects in Winterport and Stockton Springs, as well as several Aggregate acquisitions across Maine. Since 2002, he has held management positions of increasing levels of responsibility and has expanded his area of business to include the entire Northeast region. In 2016, Rodney was promoted to Senior Vice President of what was then Lane Construction’s Plants & Paving operations from Maine to Texas. He became Senior Vice President of Eurovia Atlantic Coast, following the 2018 acquisition by Eurovia USA. An active member of numerous industry organizations, Rodney has served as President of the Maine Better Transportation Association, the Maine Asphalt Producers Association, and served AGC of Maine on boards and committees, and is currently a board member of the National Asphalt Pavement Association.
Beginning in 1984 as a Project Superintendent in Florida, he expanded his role to take on varying management positions until becoming Vice President of Construction for Blythe in 2005. Mr. Cahill became President and CEO of Blythe Construction in 2010 and then assumed the role of President and CEO of the Hubbard Group in 2013, and undertook securing the company’s reputation as the premier heavy civil contractor of the Southeast. Under his leadership, Blythe and Hubbard expanded their operations continuously throughout the 2000s, while forming a culture of operational excellence and safety first which today forms the heart of our organization. In 2018, Mr. Cahill had a key role in the acquisition and integration of Lane Construction’s Plants & Paving operations, creating what is now Eurovia USA. As President and CEO of the US operations, Mr. Cahill heads a network of more than 3,500 employees operating across the entire East Coast of the United States.
